2003 STR blown motor.
+2 on using a bore scope. From my experience, you will find it is a combination of a spun rod bearing that causes the piston to kiss the valves, (In my case, breaking off one valve head and holing the piston and making scrap metal of the block.) I posted images years ago during my engine tear down. Or could happen the other way, Timing chain tensions jumps a tooth or teeth, causing valves to hit piston, leading to spun rod bearings that end up freezing the engine.
If you dont have a borescope available, you could pull the valve covers and inspect the timing chain/tensioners, this may explain or rule out bent/broken valves.
OTOH, Start looking for a replacement engine now. Lower mileage non VVT-supercharger engines are hard to find these days. You can't use the newer VVT engines unless you want to spend a lot of time swapping cams, intake manifolds, engine harness, and adjusting the valve lash. (If the only engine you find is a newer VVT engine, plan on another $500 to $1K in parts and add 2-4 weeks to your engine replacement project.)
Wow, there is a long block on Ebay with 67K miles. Just what you need.

And another complete engine with about 100K miles on it.

From my prespective, it is a false economy to put in an engine with over 100K miles because of all the work to swap the engine, and then the possibility the same thing will happen again or the engine go bad again in 30 to 50K miles.
Edit: Forgot to write that there have been at least 4 documented bad engines posted in the forum for engines that have failed in the same way you are describing, and none of them had a happy ending concerning the condition of the engine.

Hey guys thanks for the advice. So presently I don’t have a engine cam might get one in the future, however I removed both belts (engine still stuck) and am going to be purchasing the engine soon.
This being said I can not find the right darn socket to fit the bolt that holds the ECM harness to the firewall. Does anyone have an idea on what bolt it is?
by the way the engine will be up for sale soon if anyone wants it will likely go as unknown.
Thanks all,
-Aidan
