Default 2003 str driver side front end noise

Hey Folks:

I have a 2003 STR with 150k miles. Been a great car and still hums beautifully. Last summer, I noticed that when I turn slight right at speed (not as much now), it make a metal sound like a drummer banging rods together. It comes and goes depending on speed and how strong the curve is. It will make the sound if I hit solid bumps or potholes. The handling doesn't seem impacted and it doesn't happen when turning left. All the sound seems to be coming from the driver's side front.

I have pulled the wheel and gotten under to see what's what. Everything seems okay, but I really don't have suspension knowledge and wondered if anyone has an idea where to start.

Another thread mentioned bushing problems on the sway bar and possibly end links. But since I wasn't sure if they were having the same issues I am, so here we are.

Suggestions would be helpful. Thanks

Does it feel like its the abs/traction control kicking in? I noticed my 06 would prematurely engage the abs when I took a quick sweeping left turn but not right. I think the car lost its tire size setting saved in one of the modules as SDD showedi had 17” wheels when I really had 18”

Maybe off topic but my old 2005 S Type R had a odd grinding noise when I was turning left. Never could figure it out and even had the dealer look for it.

I lived with it for about 10K miles until I needed front tires. New tires and the noise was gone! Can't explain it but see if you can temporarily swap the front tires.
I know the R has staggered rims so you can't just swap front to rear tires.

With your mileage has the sway bar end links been changed?
How about the front sway bar bushings?

I don't think it is ABS related and definitely is metal banging sound. I bought it with 40,000 miles and don't believe any suspension parts have been changed or replaced. From another post, I thought maybe the sway bar or end links bushings could be the issue. I figured that before I get into it again that I would check in with everyone and see about thoughts.

I have experienced tire issues before and this sound just doesn't seem to fit that route. Maybe I will just start with the more obvious areas and check sway bar end links and the control arms and see what I see. It may be that all bushings might need attention. The ride has been perfect for the 12 years and 100,000 plus miles that I have been spoiled and never really had to deal with this.

My wife drives a 2003 Lexus ES300 and is closing in on 300,000 miles. Hard miles I might add. She drives it like she is in a NASCAR race. A couple of years ago I replaced her shocks in the rear, struts in the front and both control arms. She had some noise too and it solved the issue. Not the same kind of noise, but came from the same area.

I will let you know what I find. Thanks.
