Default i know this is gonna sound goofy:

hypothetical question:

lets say you found a 2007 str with super low miles,(that you didnt even know a family member had, and cant drive anymore) and you really couldnt have 2 STR's sitting in front of the house. Lets say your 2003 STR with 55k miles on it, would be sacrificed in order to pick up the 2007.

If i were to sell my 03, what would be a good price?? no check engine lights whatsoever, everything works as it should, new tires brakes EPB, etc etc. it just passed inspection here and is 6/12 for PA.

should i be able to get 15 out of it?

remember this is a hypthetical situation

When I was looking for my STR, 03's were going between 11 and 15, but most on average were around 13-14 with the miles youve listed. Id start at 14.9k and leave a little room to budge to the right buyer. Hypothetically that is... :P

Yes, 15K does sound goofy for a 2003 with 55K miles. It's 8 years old and medium miles on it. I know I wouldn't have given it a look last year when I was shopping.

IMO that's a hard price for private sales. But best of luck though.

15K is asking.. I would think for that price it would be a slow sale, but fair if that car is in great shape no issues, no winters, no rust, perfect.

For a quick sale 10K to 12K would make it sell faster....

Is there need for a quick sale when it's hypothetical?

Hypothetically, you'd put the new or old car in front of your neighbor's house, that solves the problem entirely.

Or in front of my house, with the keys.

I think it would be tough to get $15K, but it's worth a shot at the asking price. Odds improve if there are not any accidents. Maybe an idea is offer free shipping at the $15K price...I just paid $14750 out the door for an '05 w/nav & front park sensors, 69K; has one non-frame damage accident...

Dang! Sneak the 07 out of the family members garage and substitute the 03 in its place. Nah, don't do that. You'll get $13,500 for the 03.

you could always buy the new one so you can give the "boss" the old one and tell her you did it all for her.

If you would like a newer STR, I think I would just put your car for sale, put it up at your asking price and see what happens.

If it sells for what you want, great, if not, no big deal as you already have an STR.

Yup. Craigslist is free, cars.com has a free ad option and a for sale sign at walmart is like 46 cents...

When an old boss of mine answered my question, "what's it worth"?, he replied "ANYTHING is worth what it'll fetch".
That's stuck with me since 1968.
So your 2003 S-type is worth what someone will flash the cash for. Private sale? No guarantee, no warranty, no comebacks? Won't be high, that's for sure.
Leedsman.
