All gauges, lights, stereo come on but only get a noise I can best describe as a triple clicking from engine when trying to start. Charged battery, car started, drove 10 minutes, shut off, car won't start. Bought new battery, car starts. Get home, turn off, try again, car won't start. Auto parts store says alternator is needs replaced. What do you think?

 

Read in another part of forum last night to try other key but didn't bother because I was told the alternator was reading bad. Decided to give it a try this morning. It was the key! Lesson learned.

Have you tried the "bad" key again since the other worked?

 

I switched between the two a couple of times. "Bad" key wouldn't work.
