Default 2007 ? about mp3 and nav

Going to buy my first Jaguar soon (hopefully). Have looked into the SC XF's but I don't wanna be making another monthly payment (rather just pay cash and get it over with). So after hours upon hours of research, we have settled on the 2007 S-type. One problem...the only one I've been able to test drive (in Oklahoma) is a 2005 4.2 (without all the upgrades like nav, etc). When I can find the 2007 of my dreams (4.2L V8), that's what we'll get (only ones so far are not what I want in paint color...either I'll wait some more or have to settle).

3 questions....

1. Does the '07 have a mp3 plug-in and/or USB like the XF's do in the center console (or anywhere)? (Rather have these than a 6-cd changer...haven't used a CD in what seems forever. )

2. Is the Nav screen just for nav or does it control everything (heating/cooling, radio, nav, etc) like the XF's do? Full touchscreen?

and 3. Does it have a valet option like the XF's (not like I'll let anyone drive it but just curious)?

Thanks for answering. I'll probably have more ?'s later, but for now, those are my most pressing questions.

I think I can clear this up. 1.) There is a fairly inexpensive audio connection add on. This was an accessory and not that common. It became standard on the XF. 2.) The nav system is a full touch screen. It controls the Audio system, Nav, and climate control. There are "short cut" buttons as well. 3.) The Valet system just restricts entry into the glove box and trunk. Hope this helps.

Can you tell us where to find this? I have spoken with the dealership about a direct I-pod connection for the S-Type and was told that they are on quarantine but they have a new unit coming that will allow control of the I-pod through the touch screen. Can anyone confirm this?

N2AV8TN, where in OK are you located?

I haven't heard of a quarantine. I know they changed the part number. From what my dealer told me it is just a fancy aux input to the stereo that will also let you play MP3's through a USB port. Here is the listing from their site. jaguarparts.com

Item Number MSRP Core Price Price

North of Tulsa in suburbia. You in Oklahoma?

Yeah, I'm curious as where to find this also (and cost). I'm used to just changing the stereo if it doesn't have what I want...but that's been in older cars. I have a Kenwood in my convertible (non-Jag...LOL) and it was bought specifically for the USB port. I just carry around my 1.0GB USB jump-drive and keep all my music on that but my phone is also a MP3 player so I can use that. I just hate the idea of burning CD's again. LOL

Plus, has anyone upgraded the stereo/sub/speakers, etc. What did you upgrade to? I've been partial to JL Audio with Crossfire amp...that's what I am running right now in convertible. Just curious to what's been done to the s-types. Thanks for the responses.

Hope this helps

Have you tried it with a thumb drive? Do you have the Nav head unit or the base unit? I'm thinking of adding it as well.
