Default About to take possession of 2003 3.0 with 5-speed. Questions...

I realize this is a classic example of a noob post, but I would still appreciate some input, as a similar post I made a few years ago of a Roadfly board helped me get ahead of potential problems in our 1999 XJ8.

Specifically, what are some of the common faults I should expect with this car? With it being a manual trans, I hope I will skip over some of the trans trouble others with automatics have experienced.

The car is fairly low mileage for its age (less than 50k on the clock). Thanks for any help you guys can provide!

Not everyone at once, now.

Also, having some information on maximum speaker depth for the door speakers would be helpful. I'll probably be changing out the factory speakers shortly.

Just read old threads, plenty of details there.

Almost no-one has a manual gearbox so don't expect much on that. You'd be better on the .co.uk forum for that.

I was wondering why you'd want to swap out the factory fit speakers? Mine are factory fit (although in the SE maybe they are upgraded?), and are more than up to the test of excellent sound quality no matter what the music, frequency range, or volume! Just an observation as swapping the speakers doesn't appear to be straightforward

Best read up on lug nuts before they drive you nuts.

Every car I've had since 1989, regardless of make/model, has had its stereo system upgraded, sometimes significantly. Bet you didn't know you could shoehorn 19 speakers into a 1990 Ford Taurus SHO -- including 13 of them from the driver's shoulder forward -- and have them all hidden from view.

I don't do over-the-top "boom systems," because that's not my thing. But I am a musician/songwriter (on the side) and I do like my music. My wife's XJ8 has a modest setup, my XJ40 has a slightly more involved setup, and this car will get a fairly significant upgrade. As such, there isn't much in the way of upgrades in the 6x8 world unless you want to spend close to $1000/pair for a Morel or Focal setup. I'll probably be transitioning to 6.5-inch drivers in the four doors and a small sub box. The big expenditure will be the head unit, which will probably be a double-DIN touchscreen unit with onboard GPS and rear-vision camera.

Read the old and very detailed threads on here. There may even be a dedicated forum if you look.
