Default after market rotors

hi, im in desperate need to replace brakes all around, have an appointment at the local jag dealer tom. (fri feb 10) for oil change, hid bulb change (yes this shop gets it covered anddone no charge by S.E.)ect.and i was quoted $1400 brakes all around not including e brake. so ive looked at some sites andother posts here and im running into the same problem as other have.No one seems to know the difference btween the 300mm rotorson the 4.2land 362mm on the R. Has anyone succesfully found and installed a set of aftermarket rotors/pads?

Well I think you answered your own question, the R rotors are bigger and I doubt they will fit on a non-R S-type, maybe if you change the caliper along withit. When shopping aftermarket make sure it excludes R models. If I'm wrong someone will chime in and correct me.....(clears throat)FTJ....

thanks for the reply super jag, I do have an r model but it seems all these on line stores and autoparts stores ive been to have the
same part number for both v8 models. there is a HUGE difference in size for my Rand and the standard v8 icant seem to find any company who makes a 360mm rotor. brembo or otherwise.

Wow thanks for the help super jag! saved me alot of money

got ceramic pads to go along with the new rotors from tire rack, hopefully keep the dust to a minimum and they were about $50.00 a set cheaper.

The brakes on the S-Type R and XJR and I would even say XKR up to 06, were made for Jaguar by Brembo. Hence the cost involved in replacing them.
Sorry I was late in getting to this post, however: There is a 300mm rotor, 320mm rotor (sport package) and 363mm for the R. You cannot interchange them.
I am glad you found a cheaper version. Not too sure about the ceramic pads though. let me know if they squeel once you get some miles on them.
The R brakes are easy to replace also. However, when you go to do the rears, there are some precautions to take so as to not set the Park brake fault light.
When you get there, let me know and I will help you.

I purchased a front (EUR938) and rear (EUR592) set of Akebono ceramic brake pads from rockauto.com for $176.00 for my 2003 Jaguar S-type R. I installed them last week andbarely any brake dust is visibleto date. No brake squeal so far and it seems to stop just as good as the Brembo pads without all the brake dust.

I ordered all of my stuff from discountbrakes.com for my 2003 S-type R

It was tricky figureing out all of the correct part numbers because they tend to mix up all different size parts for one app. This is what I ended up with.

The prices from this company are good but you pay for what you get, the customer service is worthless and the part look up system is not accurate plus you will have many problems with shipping and handleing. If you need your parts in under 2 weeks then go to a different company.

Of the two dozen brake threads, is there a particular reason you revived this particular one from the dead?

It was one of the few that came up with my search terms. I didn't realize there are rules against posting in this forum.
