Air Conditioning Blend Door?

OK - now the air conditioning went out on the 2000 S-Type V6 I just helped my brother get... I'm going to trade him out of it since it is a piece of junk - maybe the previous owners didn't maintain it good... It looked like it just came off the showroom floor and was only $4,000 with 122,000 miles ($2,300 below loan & $3,000 below trade-in) but even the Jag dealer recommended getting rid of it as soon as possible!
Anyway, I remember hearing squeaking/clicking noises coming from the dash so I'm wondering if the blend door that switches from hot to cold might be acting up - the Jag dealer said the compressor looked new, but it is blowing hot air.
I know on many Lincolns, you can hold down a combination of buttons on the climate control system and manually move the blend door. Is this possible on an S-Type? Thanks for any help - just trying to limp it in and not lose much trading it since he's only had it for a week...

Well, I found out that on a Lincoln LS you push 'Off' & 'Floor' at the same time and then let them go and push 'Auto'. I tried this on the Jaguar and it didn't work. Finally had a chance to look at the car and the compressor is cycling and there is a lot of squeaking and groaning from the dash so I'm sure it's the blend door....
IDS will show you position of the doors. Have it diagnosed correctly.
I have to say that I do not agree with you just passing on the problems to some other unsuspecting soul who may be spending entire savings to finally own a Jag.
