Default Airbag Warning Light - Intermittent - help please!

Hi Guys

I've got a 2006 S-Type Sport (diesel) and have been having an issue with the airbag light on the dasboard...

Sometimes it does not come on at all (great!), other times it will flash on and off, and other times it stays on.

When it's off, you can sometimes get it to flash by leaning over and pushing the passenger seat down a few times with your hand.

It makes no difference if there is a passenger or not.

Just the airbag light - no other lights come on.

Any idea's?

HELP MUCH APPRECIATED

Thanks guys!!

Welcome to the forum Lion Heart.

From your description, this sounds like a Passenger Seat Occupancy Sensor fault. It could be the sensor in the seat cushion itself or the harness connection.

Please take a minute to follow this link New Member Area - Intro a MUST - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to post in New Member Area - Intro a MUST section and introduce yourself and your vehicle to all the members.

Default Hi there

Thanks for that... How do I check for either, and is it easy for me to repair?

Hi and welcome - I believe there is a pretty thorough description of the issue with diagnosis and repair somewhere on this board, try a search and i bet you'll find some info. I think it can be pretty technical in nature and with it being a safety item, I'd be reluctant to DIY unless you really know what you are doing.

To clarify - is it the seatbelt light within the gauge cluster or the light on the dash above the glove compartment that you are having issues with?

It requires removal of the front seat to check the harness connection and removal of the front seat cushion upholstery to replace the sensor - it's a pad in the cushion. The Parts Manual illustration shows the position of the sensor:

Slightly more complicated with heated seats but nothing too difficult other than being very careful with the leather.

Hi guys

It's the light on the dashboard display in front of the driver, not the one above the glove box (noticed the image, never knew that lit up!)

Is the seat easy to remove??

Anyone have a link to the detailed repair instructions for this mentioned two posts up from this?

OK, good, so we know which light it is now. This is not something that is uncommon - i did a quick search for you and found the thread that I had remembered reading by Leedsman a bit ago: https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...g-light-79119/

I hope that helps you get started. You really need to get a diagnosis before you even get into ripping stuff apart in my opinion. That thread will tell you how.

And if you get a second, go ahead and add your car details to your signature, just for future use. It does help.

So, if you can get a diagnosis from the light, then we can take the next step. Good luck, look forward to hearing what you discover.
