Default Already has XK8, S Type same issues?

I have always liked the look of the S Type and if I were to get one would want the 4.0. I assume they have all the same issues the XK8 does? Timing chain, and the various maint issues? Did they do a 4.2? How is the 8 popper? Is the front end suspension trash as it was on the 97-2006 xk8's? These came in 4x4 I thought? If so how good was it? Is this car basically like my Xk8 in another body?

What they said. You want the 4.2 and better the STR. (Both have better suspension, the STR uprated too.)

You don't want the 4.0 unless you enjoy changing tensioners etc and are happy with the poorer trans, poorer suspension etc.

My 02 has had just about every common ailment for the year. Like most Jags, they work out the bugs over the course of years, and when they finally get it right, they discontinue the model (think XJ-S....close to 2 decades of growing pains). The later the better.

About styling, the S-type looked, and still looks great.
