Default Another Heat Issue

Hey Guys,
I'm new to the forum and new to Jaguars. I have checked a lot of the heating issue threads for some answers but I think this is a little different. I'm not sure when the heat went out, I'm guessing this summer, but cold air is still blowing. I took it into a mechanic and they said the heater control valve is bad and b/c it went bad I am going to need to replace the controller in the dash as well for a total of about $1800 bucks. Does that sound right? Seems high but I'm not sure. Thanks for any help!

about half the time the valve does indeed burn the board that why I too quote up front. you might get lucky, but I can also tell you that the board CAN be repaired by someone that knows how to repair circuit boards. I have opened the shorted module(the ac control panel with the buttons) and you can clearly see the burned circuits on the board.
I would say just change the valve, and be prepared for additional work if heat doesnt come back

If you find you need to change the a/c module you can (with care) probably buy one from a breaker or on ebay and fit it yourself (or have it fitted for you). Their price looks to include a new one (fair enough, but not cheap). If you're handy you can change the valve yourself (see previous threads here) but otherwise get them to do it.

the module has to be programmed if new, or the buttons operate for a right hand drive car. Also 01 valves suck to do, theyre a PIA pay them unless youre really broke, and if you are wear a coat

I've got a friend who works for ford, so I think we are going to try and replace the valve first then go from there. Do y'all have any good suggestions for websites to buy the valve? Thanks for the quick answers y'all are awesome.
Matt

I'm also thinking about buying a couple snuggies for the car...if this doesn't work. HAHA
