My mother-in-law is probably going to have me sell her 2003 S-Type that she bought new. It has a 6 cylinder engine and very few bells and whistles. The mileage is around 30,000 and it has the typical issues, none of which are serious. She did have the ABS system replaced a couple years ago and generally keeps the car in good mechanical condition. However, she is 90 years old and doesn't drive it very often, so it sits in the parking lot at her condo sometimes for weeks on end. Currently the battery has apparently gone bad, but I haven't had a chance to get over there to check it out.

I drove this car from FL to WI and back in April -- it drove fine, gave me no troubles except for the windshield washer that I just couldn't seem to fix!

I can take some photos and post them, but I wanted to tell her what she might expect to get for it. I know I can look at the various websites (KBB.com, etc.) to find out what they say it's worth, but as we all know, those numbers rarely coincide with reality when we're talking about a 10 year old Jaguar!

I was thinking in the $7k range. Is that unreasonably high or low?

Sounds quite reasonable for only $30k miles. I have an 03 for sale and am getting "will you take $6 for it?" But then, mine has 92k miles.... Good luck.

 

I think I'll keep it and put a few miles on it!
