Default Anyone with Adapative Cruise Control?

I'm wondering what this is like to use on an S-Type?

Is it worth it? Do you really like it or what?

All depends if you use cruise control frequently or not?

I hardly ever have very long drives..
but I did have it on my 07 XJR and it was really great to use for trips on the highway.
Really does a great job of what its supposed to do..
which is brake for you to keep distance between you and the car in front of you,
while maintaining the speed you selected when possible.

If you find an STR with it then its a nice bonus in my book.

Thanks.
I guess if the front bumper has what looks like those parking sensors on it then it has adaptive cruise control or is there another sensor utilized?

Er, you can have a front parking aid. I believe that uses the sensors you mention, whereas ACC uses a radar device. Try the workshop manual (or a jag parts dept lol) to see what they look like / where they are, or someone may be able to post info here.

Yes I did see a reference for a 2003 car that showed another device which would make more sense to me as the rasdar needs to be a very focused longer range beam than what's required for parking.

The Bumper sensors are different
I believe you will find a small black box on the lower portion of the bumper that is the radar for the ACC.

the easiest way to tell is from pictures on the inside of the car..
on the left side, right where the gas release button and trunk release button are..
there is a button in the middle.. in most cases its blank and unused..
but if it has ACC then its used and you will see a logo print on that button as well..

Yep that is it!

That little triangle means it has ACC!

I just purchased my STR which included ACC. So far it's really only problem I have with the car.. Darn thing was slamming on the brakes for no reason, then wouldn't keep the appropriate distance from the vehicles in front of me. Taking to the dealer on Thursday to get it fixed.

We love ACC. It's my wife's favorite feature, and I find it pretty cool also. You adjust the holding distance by the toggle on the steering wheel - very easy to do. I have always used cruise control, but tapping it on and off for traffic is annoying. ACC eliminates this. Try it - you'll like it.

I have it on my 07 xjr. It's great. You have to be a little careful with the 'resume' buttom, but once you get the hang of it it's a really nice feature. I've driven 100+ mile stretches on interstate highways without having to touch the gas or brakes.

Thanks for all the replys.

It looks like I'm buying an 05 STR that doesn't have this feature.

I posted another thread asking this question but I think I already know the answer.

I don't think it is a feasable add-on feature so I'll have to live without this luxury.

Where I live cruise control is pretty much useless except on very late nights. It's just too congested.

Another thing I though about is my driving style. I'm a very defensive driver and when possible I always like to place myself in the safest spots on the road. That's not very compatible with cruise control.

Okay so quick question.

I own an 82 XJ6 Vanden Plas, but Im looking to add to the collection, and this ACC has peaked my interest

Does Jaguars ACC work like the Mercedes Distronic Plus system? Meaning, will it bring you to a complete stop in traffic? And what is the maximum brake pressure that is applied when ACC is active?

I too was curious about what the ACC would be like. Overall, it sounds like it would be a great option. I personally love using cruise control out on the highway, so this would be a great feature to have. Maybe on my next Jag...
