Anyone changed the Spark Plugs on their STR??
HEy Everyone, I was planning on changing out my Spark Plugs on my STR and I just wanted to get some insights on the level of difficulty it is to do it. First off has anyone done it on their STR? Also is their anything I need to watch out for like hoses or wires from breaking that are in the way? I searched around on the forums here but couldnt find any concrete info on how to do it. I have the JTIS, but I wanted to ask around first whats the easiest way to change the Plugs on the STR.
Thanks for everyones help on this.

Going to do it in March. Waiting for the taxes to come back. With the mileage I'm putting on now could actually hold off but I am still gonna do it in March just for piece of mind. If anyone lives near me and needs it done I'll do it for you so I could make the video early. But will definitly be doing a video when I do it. Maybe do some more stuff depending on how much the government is gonna give me back.
Yes the beauty of making nothing in the military is the government sees you as below the poverty level. So that mixed with having a child gives me a few tax breaks. Since I am no longer in the military I wont get that anymore so I'll enjoy it this last year. I was planning on doing it then all along but I used to put about 40 miles a day on my car before and now its barely 5 so my mileage isnt gonna be where I thought it would be in March but still gonna do it.
Jag79 I changed mine no hidden problems the hardest part was removing the cover which just pops off. I installed the NGK #5464 iridium plugs got them from advance auto ordered online picked up at store using a online discount they were only $38 and change.

Don't know about that
WOW! 30 minutes!?!? That has to be a record. Please post helpful details and shortcuts...
Not to bad a job, the rear RH is the hardest to get the coil pack out to get at the plug, that side is also no easy to get the cover out but it does thread out round the dip stick
Look out for oil down the plug tube and use a good plug socket.

So simple
I do it in a process.....
Check all gap of new plugs
Pop the hood
Pop the valve cover plastic "Jaguar" plate
Unscrew all the coils
Pop them out
Move coil wires out the way
Spark plug socket, 2" ext, Swivel
pop the plugs out
and reverse.......
You want to complain about doing plugs.....try doing it on a Ford Lightning w/ the 5.4L Supercharged......forget that! I dont miss that truck for that reason!

I've changed mine a couple of times with the motor in the car of course. I didn't find any problem with any wires or hoses. The driver's side no. 4 (2nd from front) is somewhat difficult if you don't remove some obstructions. I use a ratchet, long and medium extensions, a universal joint and a telescoping magnet (to both remove and drop the spark plugs in the plug holes. Fairly easy job. Remember these iridium plugs are fairly expensive. $8.00 - $12.00 each.
