Default Anyone know what THIS is?...

I found this just hanging "loose", swinging around behind my new baby's grille today. - Anyone know what it is, or where it goes? It has 2-wires going right into it, and those wires branch off from the same wire harness as the dual horns (also seen in the pic), directly under the front radiator shroud & behind the grille. It looks like it should insert into something else (frame or shroud location maybe?), but I can find no matching "hole" anywhere within the length of the wires it's connected to, available to re-fit it into. ...???

If I had to hazzard a totally WAG - I would guess it is (looks like anyway) the outdoor ambient temperature sensor? Maybe not though, and... just swinging and hanging loose like that, there? ...???

Someone help me solve this mystery! - So far, I've just tucked it between the 2 horns so it is at least no longer "dangling" free, and I can find absolutely nothing that does not accurately (seem to) work in the car, but....

Anybody?

TIA & cheers!
-Grant

Ditto. In cars up to the early 80's, used to rip out wiring and whatever wasn't critical to operation. Nowadays, if ya rip out the washerfluid circuit, she'll likely throw a code and not start (exaggeration).

You aren't wrong. I rebuilt my 83 CJ and tore out ALL the wires and hoses. I only left three wires in the engine compartment (Starter solenoid, horn, and coil). It ran great! I wouldn't dare do that with a modern automobile.

NASA didn't wire our cars. I worked there, and if NASA did, there would be better documentation, labeling, and fewer problems.

True but they'd cost more!

And you'd be very scared of O rings.
