Default Belt squeal sound all the time (not just when cold)?

I've only owned the car for 2000 miles...At about 1000 mile mark I had the 3lb pulley installed and now soon after it started to squeal...Sounds like it's the belt but I can't confirm and thought it was only common for the belt to squeal when cold...Any ideas?

First thing may be to leave the belt off and check the squeal goes.

Mine did an annoying squeal too , after two belts and pulley assy things have been smooth .You can squirt WD40 (not too much and engine is off ) , I did it a few times prior to replacement as well

Belt size, baerring starting to fail, contamination, a few thoughts there... But like JagV8 said, if you pull the blower belt, you can better get an idea at least what belt, o rpully is causing it.

A bad pully makes a crunching racket, less likely to make the belt squeel, but a pully not allinged corectly can make the belt squeel, also check that the tensioner is GTG.

I bought an aftermarket extended service plan which I can use in about three weeks so I'll bring it into a shop...This morning it was raining pretty heavy and I noticed the squeal went away...So maybe some wd40 is the way to go for the time being...

rather than WD40 try to find some belt grip spray, like this http://www.crcind.com/wwwcrc/tds/TCA3%20BELTGRIP.PDF

WD-40 is a penetrating liquid used mainly for loosening rusted items, bolts, etc. and should not be used as a lubricant.

Thats why I suggested belt grip because using WD40 would I thought more than likely just hide the noise by lubricating so it slips quietly and not fix the problem?

Truth be told, it's not really a good penetrating oil either and certainly not what it was designed for. WD40 is the best thing around at water displacement and 'meh' at any other purpose.

+1 on using a proper belt dressing. STP also makes a product for this task.

Agree with Mikey on the WD. I'll take some ATF or Liquid Wrench anyday. But the point is solid that it really shouldn't be used on a belt.

Thanks everyone. I'm thinking to leave it alone until I can dip into the warranty and see if the TSB would be covered.

If you're getting a belt squeal then look for the problem and don't cover it up with sprays. The car is talking to you. Listen carefully.

Mine has a coolant leak and it drips onto the belts and makes them squeal until i drive for a bit.
