Default Bought my own scanner/code reader....

checked it out on a few cars already....worked perfect on different cars, however......when i plugged into mine, i couldnt read anything. Its a can/obd2 reader. Any ideas on why?? its supposed to read live data also. I will say that being able to diagnose a few of my friends cars was pretty cool. Lady gave me 30 dollars to tell her whats really wrong with her car...had a check engine light on, and i shut it off for her and peeled the tape off the cluster covering the light up. lol

What position is your key in when your trying to read the codes?
I know with my Jag it will only work if its in the on position, but with other cars like my Audi it only likes to work when they key is at off or acc... Eric
