Default Calling RealTech and all other Jaguar technicians....

Regarding using fuel injector cleaners in my 2005 S-Type 3.0, specifically Chevron's Techron product....

Some S-Typeownerson this forumadvise NOT to use fuel injector cleaners because the spark plugswill suffera muchgreaterrisk ofbecoming fouled as a result. I've never experienced any sparkplug fouling inour other vehicles (Japanese and American) as a result of using Techron or any other fuel injector cleaner on a regular basis. In fact, adding a bottle of Techron at every oil & filter changehas kept some of our previous vehicles' fuel injectors running strong to nearly 150,000 miles when I then sold the vehicles, still in great shape....

What do you trueJaguar techshave to sayconcerning using a product such as Techron at every oil & filter change (for me, that would be every 5,000 to 6,000 miles, and my oil willremain the standard Castrol 5W-30 conventional oilrecommended by Jaguar)?

Thanks for helping to clear up some of the confusion around this topic....

I haven't had any problems with injector cleaning causing spark plug fouling but then I use only professional grade cleaner that isn't available to the general public. I like the Techron product as an add to the tank cleaner as well and have never had any problems with that product causing fouling when used as directed. My experiance with other cleaners has been generally poor. I have found many of them to be the consistency of light weight motor oil(rather thick) and I'm not sure what they are putting in there but many of them wont even catch fire with an open flame applied. I can't imagine a product like that doing any good in the fuel system. Other than the Techron or professional style cleanersI would stay away from additives.

Thanks for the feedback, guys. I'm going to stay with my habit of using a bottle of Techron at every oil & filter change, even on this Jaguar. Idon't expect to have a problem with these NGK iridium plugs - they burn so hot and so clean that I just don't think that a bottle of Techron added to a full tank of gascould foul them....

Thanks again. You guys are excellent sources ofinsideinformationconcerning our Jaguarsand we're fortunate to have you here on these forums....
