this one has been driving me crazy. my AC is not draining like it should. as a turn corners I can hear the woosh of water and then it starts to leak onto the passenger side floor. i have scoward this and other boards but have not been able to find anyone who can show me a pic of how to find the outlet from under the car or how to get to it from the inside of the car. lots of X type pics but no S type's. I really don't want to pull the dash out just to get to a stopped up drain. so Im hopping someone can help me.

I have read a few posts about the outflow being hid behind the heat-shield right around the catalytic converter but at this point I have no "Hard" information about how to get to it, what side its on or anything of any great help.

thanks
Jeff

The reason you have not found a picture is because the drain is hidden. I can see where the water comes out but I can't get to the drain port. It's somewhere above the transmission case/exhaust system and the back of the engine.

Now the good thing is the S type does not suffer from this drain getting plugged so you have a pretty rare problem!

Has the transmission been removed before? Maybe something was damaged from a prior repair?

thanks for your response. no repairs, and trans has never been out of the car. have had this car from when it was new. and the underside is very clean and without much issues. well if the 2002 s types dont typically suffer from clogged drain ports, what could be causing the water to back up and drip down into the blower motor and then builds up in the rubber housing that covers the blower motor until it spills over the top. I took the blower motor out and saw no viable issues from that point of view. so still trying to figure this out.

on a side note. last night i jack the jag up from the passengers side and alot of water came out from the drivers side. about the same spot is used to drain from on the passengers side. dont know if there are 2 drain ports or the condenser pan was still full of water when i jacked it up it just ran over and found its way out on the driver side.

thanks

I can't say why it would plug. I do read about a lot of these problems with the XK. They have what's known as a Ducks bill at the end of the drain hose. The two lips get stuck together and stop up the drain. On that car the transmission has to come out to get at the Ducks bill so it is a big deal.

It might be worth your while to search and read some of those threads?

Only one drain. When you pulled the blower motor maybe try to run a piece of wire down and out the drain? I am guessing here because it's just not reported on the S Type.

One last thought? Do you have the JTIS? It should show something about the condensate drain but I have not looked so am unsure.

no i do not have the JITS i need to download that soon. gave up on trying to get to the drain from under the car. seems that it is hidden better then i hide my keys and reading glasses each day.

so now-reluctantly- approaching the issue fro, inside the car. I will keep you all posted on this endeavor. and will post pics of what i hope to be a quick and relatively painless project. ahhhh the life of a jag owner.

thanks tbird for reminding me to get the JITS
