I'm not one to complain about gas mileage but these things get the worst gas mileage as any SUV. I was toying with the idea of one a few years back and was comparing these with the SS Trailblazer and if I would of pulled the plug I would of went SS Trailblazer. I just couldnt see getting an SUV even one like this and not being able to tow. I figured the Trailblazer was the best of both worlds. You got performance since it has the LS2 in it plus plenty of aftermarket to do nasty stuff to it and it can also tow your toys at the same time.
I definitly love the way the Jeep looks though. They are dead sexy. If money and practicality wasnt an option I'd have one in a heartbeat. But now I'd either go Trailblazer SS or if I was sticking with a SRT8 I'd go 300C SRT8.
Congrats when you get it you need to post lots of pics. Hopefully with the STR next to it.

The Durango RT got the worse mileage of any car that I ever owned. Didn`t care though. The STR may be leaving...I have too many cars....I don`t mind getting sub sero mileage. I can afford it and will have the wife`s Equinox if I need to go long distances...

In that case go for it. Sucks that your STR will have to go. I had a boat at the time which is why I had needed something to tow. Post up pics when you get it.

Sounds tempting but one thing I try to stick with is never getting more than one of the same car. I have found memories of the lil alfa.

My parents have a Durango RT AWD. I have never seen anything that sucked fuel as much as those motor do, and they aren't overly quick.

LOL....couple of years ago when fuel was well beyond $4/gal (I fear we are headed back there) I was filling the Excursion (44 gal capacity) and a lady was on the other side of the same pump-island topping up her Durango, and bitsching about the price.....looked over at me and said, "Well, I guess I should be thankful and shut up, eh? At least I'm not you!"
"I don't know...it's a good rant y'got goin'...what kinda mileage you get on that thing?"
"Bout 12 if I'm careful..."
"uhmmm..just don't think you are up to parking one of these, or what? I mean, most people wouldn't complain about the extra space, or the increased towing capacity or far greater torques?"
"You don't mean to stand there and tell me you get 12 on that thing?!? as good as I do on the Durango???"
"Oh heck no, ma'am! I couldn't possibly afford that....I get 18...."

That Jeep is the fastest 0-60 mph time of the STR8 models! AWD really allows for a great launch!!

I also looked at the Volvo R60R. I really did not find it in the same class as the STR.

Dude! I had a 2001 Red RT....I put underdrive pulleys, fluidamper harmonic balancer, new intake manifold, conical filter and 1.7 roller rockers....thing went like stink!!!!!

Repulsive gas mileage though....back in the day when gas was 67 a litre, it still cost me $125 to fill up and it didn`t last a week....
