Default center lower console

i noticed when i got my car the center lower trim was broken and in multiple pieces. the plastic seems to be brittle, instead of buying a "new" one for an insane amount ive considered making one out of 18 gauge or so metal and fabbing one up. if i can get this to work would anyone else be interested as a replacement assuming it turns out good?

i have only found one replacement on ebay, but its 300 dollars and the wrong color and probably going to crack so id rather invest the money and time to a quality replacement.

I think it was part incompetent mechanic and part sun making it brittle

We don't see it in the US either.

It was broken somehow.
