Default coil conversion

Jaguar meet in St.Peterburg, Florida
I have a 2005 s-type R and the self leveling shocks all around are shot including the struts. Can anybody point me in the right direction to find a conversion kit to coils? I have looked and looked but cannot find the correct link. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum and Jaguar ownership. A nice looking STR with the blacked out wheels.
I assume you have seen the signs of failed electronic dampers or had them professionally assessed as failed?
There may be some sagging in the coils on a 15 year old car but I would not rush to replace these any time soon unless they have sagged but maybe good policy since you will have them out to replace the rubber pads.
There is no such thing as a 'conversion kit to coils' on the STR as unlike the XJR it doesn't use air bags.
On the STR or S-Type's fitted with the electronic dampers (CATS) made by Bilstein, there is an option to buy and install the non electronic dampers of varying brands. From what I gather some have done this with satisfactory results.

I would spend the difference and by the electronic dampers in my car.

Scroll down a bit further from your post on the S-Type landing page to this post and you will see just about all the information you will need:

The electronic dampers on the STR's are prone to 'weeping'. This does not indicate that they are faulty, a tiny bit of fluid over time can make it look quite bad.
However often a quick clean up of the damper may be all that is needed, check it again in a few months or even every year but you may well find it never gives any problems again.

In regard to the STR here are the ride heights measured from the center of the wheel to the apex of the wheel arch, through the wheel center line with a full tank of fuel:
Front: 386mm
Rear: 378mm
However there is a ± 15 mm range for anticipated build variance and condition.
So within these limits the lowest mesurements with a full tank of fuel should be:
Front: 371mm
Rear: 363mm
There is no point in changing the springs or anything if you car is within this range as new springs may well be the same!

Mellow

I bought mine last week . Still expensive but saved about £350 .

hi
the fronts ones you have there are the wrong part number 20-070748 they are sport dampers and not STR ones, the correct front part number are 20-070854 or jag part number xr843730
rears correct 20-070855 or jag part xr836885
the sport one will fit and looks exact the same but not as hard when in hard mode
cheers
Joe
