We've got the factory Bluetooth paired with a Blackberry.

Today when I started the car, the phone went through it's usual sequencing but the car showed a touchscreen that was the beige background color and read "Phone Off". At the bottom was a large touchscreen button that read "Phone On".

I hadn't seen this but pressed the button. Nothing happened. Again. Again nothing.

Turned off the ignition and turned it on again. Now it read "Communication Failure. Contact the dealer."

All this while the phone is showing that it is paired just fine.

Any ideas?

See what happens the next few days. More weird stuff - failing car battery.

 

Had that happen once or twice over the years.. usually just a glitch that clears itself up.. most likely a bluetooth issue

 

Today the problem simply went away. >poof<

 

Damp, small bit of dust, wiggled connector.... or it may come back. Just wait and see
