Default Confused and Tell me if this makes any sense?

On July 11 had new plugs and #3 and #5 coil replaced. On July 12 had bad passenger side cat replaced. Car ran like a charm.

Last Friday- got into stumble, hesitation, misfire and threw 0300, 1313 and 1316.

Took yesterday to mechanic. They replaced #3, but indicated not the problem and said it was the cat. - However they said that according to Jag that after cat and coil replacement that I need 2 software updates that addressed this issue.

Called Jag and computer shows I have had all updates and the last one specially addressing the TCM and emissions (J0043).

Car ran great for 3 weeks after clogged cat was replaced- would not computer have a problem immediately and none of this makes any sense. I am going to have the new cat replaced and also replace the one on the drivers side today.

What sense can be made out of this.

The cats are Magnaflow- has anyone had trouble with these on the car and did you have to reflash the ECM after installation of coils and /or cat???

This does not seem to pass the sniff test.

Thanks

Changing those parts out does not require any dealer programming. It's all just normal replacement parts.

What are you going to do about P1313 and P1316?
Remember to clear them first and see if they come back.

Looks like the P1316 could be the injector harness. Have you inspected the coils? It's very common to break off the locking tabs on the electrical connector. Maybe a possible connection issue?

The plugs can be changed if damaged.

Not sure what you mean by the injector harness? P1316 and 1316 related to excessive emmissions and catalysist damage and only flag with p0300-0308 ( in my case only p0303 came up and that is where it directly feeds down to the convertor- so that explains on the 3.0 why #3 gets hit a lot.
I have a new coil and plug on #3- although they appeared fine. I got 2 new cats replacing the one that I got 3 weeks ago and the older jag one on the drivers side.

Had gotten new Denso 02 sensors on the passenger and put in a new denso upstream on the drivers side.

So far good to go.

Should I reset the battery with the work done- thumbs up or thumbs down????

Have you looked at the forum stickies to see what those codes mean?

Since you think the coil is good you need to look further down the list of possible causes. Codes are just a begining or a direction to look in. It's not black and white for many codes.

Note; The list has coil failure at the very bottom.

Thanks, by now I know these by heart. I have an Alldata account. I had the shop check all the injectors and especially the one on #3- zero problems with anything related to fuel delivery. Spark plug and coil on #3 were new on July 11, showed no problem, no oil, no nothing, but replaced them anyway. No indication of compression problems and nothing mechanical with camshaft or valve springs
. Any other ideas. Interesting that on ALLDATA the list is in reverse of the list here with ignition coil failure at the top.
