It's good to have the cap on the expansion cap checked every once in a while to make sure it's releasing pressure when it should. This, one of the cheapest parts is one of the most important, it regulates the whole system. Make sure that you use a fomoco or Jaguar cap with the little hole on the top to release pressure. When the car is running and up to temperature you should be able to squeeze the upper radiator hose, if it's hard to squeeze, too much pressure. My car blew out the DCCV and thermostat housing prematurely because of too much pressure. Another way to reduce the pressure is to remove relay R7 for the auxiliary coolant pump, the heater won't warm up as quickly, but it isn't absolutely necessary if the regular water pump is working ok. I got a Meyle expansion tank too and it seems pretty good. The cap that it came with didn't have the little hole on the top, so I tossed it.
