With answers to questions like:
1) How do I put stock HIDs/projectors into my Halogen headlights?
2) what size speakers are in my S-type?
3) How do I know if my car has C.A.T.S.?
4) how do I get my S-type to go into gear faster?
5) what size wheels and tires fit without rubbing?
6) How do I fix my headlights if they are pointing at the ground?

I'm sure there are other questions I can't think of...

Maybe FJT and Jag_genius and others with know how and experience could help us flesh out and maintain this compendium of knowledge.

That's what I'm saying. I may be new to this forum, but I'm definitely not new to forums (especially auto forums) and they always have a set of questions like the ones above that are constantly asked and as years go by the forum regulars get terse and just yell SEARCH NOOB at everybody. If it were just attatched to the top of the forums it would be a lot easier on everybody.

FJT, I realize that things change either at the model re-design break in '03 and also depending on options of the vehicle in question. I have, for many years, been a member of contour.org and the Ford Contour has a lot of similarities to the S-type, first in the way it was viewed upon initial debut and how it fizzled short years later. Also, the contour went through one model redesign and there were substantial fascia and power train changes along with the introduction of a high performace variant. The contour.org website has faqs that delineate many of these changes and how they effect repair and modification of the platform. I myself am going to attempt to do a how to on upgrading the factory sub box for my 2000 S-type but I don't know if all the different model years have the same setup for a rear factory sub box.

 

We do have FAQ's. If you click on the Forum FAQ's on the top of the page, and you click on "search all FAQ's", you'll get all the FAQ's that's we've had over the years. Something great on this forum, is that we don't really say "SEARCH NOOB"...unless it's just a ridiculous question that was asked in a thread right below it. LOL! We are pretty helpful here...you should know that by now.

I have heard of these technical FAQs, and when I went to the first page you mentioned, I never saw them, nor was it obvious to click on Search all FAQs in order to find them. Perhaps we could make this list easier to find? Maybe a big button on the FAQ main page...for people like me who like the obvious - bam, in your face-type of link.

 

OK, so you click on Forum FAQ's link on the top of the page...and then you see this and you click the highlighted area.

 

Yup, that's the spot! Now only if all of those arrows would surround the button every time someone went to that page. Am I the only one who thought that was only for searching...not browsing? <smarta_ _ biggie>

 

LOL! I know...just a little. I guess it's not a bad idea to put somewhere there that that is the link to the technical FAQ's. Or maybe the button can say TECHNICAL FAQ's...who knows. I'll lead Jim to this thread, because I know he doesn't check EVERY SINGLE THREAD. He is allmighty though, so you never know.

 

OK, now that I know where they are...How does one contribute to or add a FAQ?

 

You just start a thread that you deem worthy of FAQ status and let any of us mods or an admin know that you think it should be an FAQ and we will lock it and brand it as so.

I've felt that too but every forum has it's quirks no matter where you go...just takes some searching!
