Default Cross drilled/slotted rotor noise?

(STR) I read here quite a bit that the drilled and slotted rotors are noisey and the drilled only are quieter. Is it the pad differences? Does anyone know what actually creates the noise in a drilled/slotted rotor? Could it be the way one manufacture does the slots and the angles? example: if you look at the slots on a brakeperformance.com rotor, the slot runs right off of the edge and is curved vs a r1concepts.com rotor its slots are at more of an angle and the slot is maintained on the braking surface of the rotor (doesnt run off the edge). Could that be the noise differences? Hopefully there web pics illustrate their actual product patterns. Is there a such thing as a quiet drilled/slotted pad combo...

Default I have them

They are make more noise, they look nice and..... They last considerably longer. Thinking of how much I've stressed mine, I've gotten a ton more miles out of them than I'd been getting on the Jaguar ones.

In severe rain, you will feel diminished breaking power as the water rings off. The slots are altered to throw the brake dust to the inside, making one have to clean the rims off less frequently.

I had drilled and slotted rotors with ceramic pads on my previous car. And it absolutely makes noise - when you have windows down and driving in quiet area at parking lot speeds.

I liked the ceramic pads as brake dust almost disappeared and had subjectively firmer braking action. The rotors wore nicely as it looked like mirrors(with holes and slots) when viewed from outside.
