Default Curious headlight problem

Hi all,

Both of my dipped headlights have stopped working. It isn't the bulbs and according to my handbook there are no specific fuse(s) for standard halogen dipped beams.

I'm guessing it must be something common and was wondering if there was any common connection, apart from the stalk switch.

Any ideas please?

Check your "auto lamp" switch assembly. Pop it out and spray the contacts. My fog lights wouldn't work, and electric contact cleaner like DeOxIt D5 did the trick on that rotary switch.

Now fixed .

Curiously enough, the problem was that apparently, H7 bulbs, particularly, el cheapo items, can fail in such a way that having removed the bulb, one can carry out a continuity test and the bulb will appear satisfactory but when pushed into the connector, the contacts, then under tension, move enough to cause an open circuit.

So, in the end, it was a simple case of replacement bulbs from a known manufacturer. In my case, Hella.
