Has anyone thought of this, i need to replace my oem expansion tank so i was thinking metal, then i stumbled across these and a few other types. Anyone have any input for this type of tank?

Anything that fits, is OK with the coolant type, copes with the hoses & pressure, and takes the pressure relief cap should be OK.

Metal would outlast the car. I think the reason most people here don't try something different is due to the amount of fab work involved. Figure the plastic one is ~$130 and will last 8ish years.

I believe 8 years is too long a lifespan estimate for most of these plastic reservoir tanks. I think 5 years is more likely....

I had to grab a plastic one today, got it 110 at imperial jaguar , lake bluff ill. I will probably try to build one this winter and see how it works. I just to need to know more about how this one functions, the volume, why the two chamber area for the fill....I understand the fill level should be the same distance of ground, and the cap or somewhere on the cyclinder about fill, there should be a pressure relief at a certain pressure, which im not sure of, the overflow from engine needs to be drawn in above level but tubed to underwater to bubble and suck fluid as not to introduce air into the system, kinda the whole point to this damn thing....etc... fell free to chime in with some specs if you know of any or can help be determine details.
