Diagnosing VVT Solenoid Issues (DTC #1385 and #1388)
[2000 Jaguar S-Type 3.0, >200k miles]- I'm getting persistent DTC's #1385 and #1388 (which both reference bank 2 VVT solenoid issues). The PCM has previously been reset and the codes are persistent, so I am getting ready to attempt the repairs. I have the Alldata steps for diagnosing P1385 (testing the resistance/voltage off the solenoid), but P1388 is more vague, suggesting that it could just be a stuck actuator or low oil pressure. For #1385 I am prepared for the possibility that I may need to replace the VVT solenoid, but I want to be prepared with parts, tools, etc. for any other likely scenarios. Any suggestions for other possible reasons for the #1385 and #1388 codes that I should be ready to address once I open up the valve covers? Also, if the issue is just a stuck actuator, any suggestions for best way to clean/repair? Thanks.
