Difficult starting on STR
Hello all. Last night I took possession of my very first jaguar. It's a 2002 s type R. I'm over the moon with it but have a couple of niggling problems I could use some advice from you more knowledgeable people. At least a couple of times last night and today when I've come to start it the engine has turned over and over for a good few seconds before firing. Once I had to take two attempts. The engine spins nice and fast so there's no problem there, it simply seems relunctant to fire. Anyone heard of this before or have any idea where to look first?
thanks in advance. These cars are all new to me so I have no clue

Very unusual.
If you're in doubt at all about it's servicing etc you may want to do all the basics: spark plugs, fuel filter, etc and hope one fixes it.
You could check its fuel trims and OBD monitors, too, in the hope of clues.

Check the battery voltage it needs to have 12.6 volts. The starter motor may be taking so much at the moment that there is not enough left for the rest of the electronic parts.
buy yourself an elm 327 then you will be able to read the engine codes. They are really cheap under 15 dollars and apps are free.
