Default Display brightness

The lower down of my two displays, the radio one is a lot less bright than the upper one, very noticeable at night. Can it be easily removed to check lights behind.
Thanks

At any consolation, Joyces Jag does the samething. I just haven't gotten around to checking it out and replacing bulbs.

Maybe my next FAQ write up?!

Good idea. Apparently quite a few owners suffer from this problem would be nice to know if a fixable problem or not.

Thanks

I think this is the norm for the stereo lights to be dimmer on these cars. The reason is the top climate control lights are led, the radio lights are bulbs. I believe it is fixable, but you have to take the stereo face off and desolder the green lights and replace them with led smt lights. I used to do this on my factory stereos to change the lights from pea green to bright blue. I still have about 50 or more of the blue leds and I am thinking of changing all the dash lights to blue. Although Red would look good as well.

Here's a link to some nice bright green ones, It is for 50 so you will have enough to do about 10 stereos lol

Thanks achy, I for one am not a fan of replacing all the lights with LEDs. I have replaced on a few different vehicles the tiny light bulbs that I have picked up at the local Radio Shack.

I also use one of those "blue heat" soldering irons (the ones "as seen on tv"), I love that tool!

I just looked at how to remove the console and all. I will be tackling this job tomorrow night I think.

If you like soldering this really is rather enjoyable doing this. I will be doing it on the Jag when I get everything else the way I want to.... It's cheap and really make a HUGE difference.

I've done quite a few dashboards especially Volvo V70 where some of the lamps don't seem to last any time. I'm a believer in replacing with leds if for no other reason than they can then be forgotten about.
