Default Do I need to replace fuel filter?

I just had my S-type V6 3:0 2004 serviced by a jag specialist at 170,000km. I asked him to replace the fuel filter but he said it's inside the petrol tank, hard to access and never needs replacing anyway. I find this hard to believe, everything I read says the filter is easy to reach and is behind the front wheel arch lining. Where is it actually, and what would be normal procedure?

Yes the fuel filter is indeed behind the left hand wheel arch lining.

It should be changed every 96,000 km. (60k miles)

I think the part number is C2Z7738.

Thank you! I think I need to find a new "specialist" mechanic!

I have mine changed at a local shop for $25 or so. It has Ford connectors on the fuel lines. Anyone that deals with Fords will have the right tools and knowledge to do it. Big mess with out them. I take off the wheel well cover on the left front wheel well to make it easier for them. Get a good filter.

I had it replaced by my local & trusted mechanic, who charged me just half an hour for his time. What I've learned is that the Jaguar "specialist" I drove 2 hours (each way) to see gave me incorrect advice and I will not be returning.
