Default Don't make me go back......

Drove an hour to the dealer this morning to have the front brake pads replaced (they said new rotors were not necessary) and a few other things. Within an hour of being home, the front brakes began to emit a loud high pitched squeal as I stop. I mean LOUD.

I left a message for the dealer's service depatment to call me.

My questions:

1) Is here anything that I can do myself?
2) Will it go away on its own?

Thanks

It might go away on it's own. Try bedding in the pads by doing several heavy applications of the brakes from highway speed down to 10 mph or so, but NOT stopping. Let the brakes cool in between stops.

There's no need in going to a dealar for brakes on these cars- they're pretty straight forward and any local garage can do them at much less costs. Most of us DIYers here do our own.

If the squealing does not go away, ask your local garage to deglaze the rotors with a 100 grit pad.

Thanks Mikey,

The "slam on the brakes down to 10 mph" worked like a charm!
