Door Lock
Some bright spark has taken it upon themselves to insert some foriegn object into my door lock. Now I can't insert my bloody key and do the global close
This also prevents me from having a backup should my remote fail.
My questions are:
Is it possible to repair easily?
Will it have to be a *********** job?
Thanks all.
Mark

ARE YOU SURE SOMEONE STUCK SOMETHING INTO IT? THE DOOR LOCKS ARE NOTORIOUS FOR STICKING FROM LACK OF USE, AND THE TUMBERS GETTING OUT OF ALIGN. SPRAY WITH WD40 REAL GOOD AND PLAY WITH THE LOCK AND KEY TO SEE IF YOU CAN GET IT LINED UP AND FREE. IF THEY DID YOU COULD CALL A LOCKSMITH, BUT SINCE A DEALER CAN TAKE THE LOCK APART THAT MAY BE YOUR BEST BET IF YOU CANT GET IT
I have a friend who happens to be a locksmith, with over 30 yrs experience, and he has sayed my skin on a few occasions, but I hever had him work with the type of lock like the one's found on the Jag, which I'm sure would present more of a problem.
I would first try what brutal suggested, then try a good experienced locksmith. Just by eyeballing the lock they should be able to tell you whether or not it can be done...

I had same problem with my 2000 S Type when I bought it . . key would only go into door lock about 1/4 inch or so . . sprayed good ol' WD-40 into cylinder, let it sit about 5 mins and presto, key works fine. At first I thought new tumbler was in order. Just make sure you take something small to push in the spring loaded dust cover so you can spray into the lock.
Same problem, but I think you may want to consider graphite powder.. There are a couple different types of lubricants that can be used in a lock, but I prefer graphite powder. Graphite powder is odorless and tends to stay in the lock rather than sticking to the key. If you use a petroleum based oil, it can make your keys oily and worse, dust tends to stick to it inside the lock and become gunky. However, whichever you choose, stick with that lubricant. Mixing lubricants is a sure way to gunk up a lock.
Thanks for the info guys.
I attempted the WD40 route and left it to soak in. Then I inserted the key, moved it around a while but still no luck. Looks like a *********** job to me
