Doors will not lock.
My key will not insert all the way into the driver's side door lock. It goes in about a 1/4" or less and stops. I think because of this, my doors will not lock remotely or when I push them to lock. They lock but immediately unlock. Ideas? 2007 Jaguar S-Type 3.0
If they unlock right away then the system is detecting an open in one or more of the doors.
Try to lock the car and watch the interior door handles maybe you can see one not moving to the lock position?
Most of the time this problem is due to a bad lock actuator.

Tbird is correct ^^^
I wonder why the key won't go into the driver door lock though. When I stuck my buddies Tibbe key in Joyces driver door lock it automatically locked her doors. Long story short is that I have read that a Tibbe key will fit and lock any vehicle that uses that particular key set up.

I've had this problem with lack of penetration.......but about your key......
Seriously, haven't experienced the failure to lock but have had the driver's side lock barrel inoperative from the key and key will not insert fully on both S-Types. And yes, any of my Jag keys, S-type or XJ will lock any of the Jags. Unlock? better have the right key and if an S-type, hope someone's used the key on it lately or else have the proper FOB properly programmed...
On the 2003, I had a "custom" syringe that looked like it had partially survived the dishwasher, tip was all curved, that I was able to use to inject some teflon into the works with, past the little flap door. This freed up the mechanism and I try to remember to check it on rare occasions when my daughter is home from school and I think of it and it has thus far always been good.
On the 05, same issue, key won't insert fully and lock won't lock/unlock via key but ok with FOB or dash button. However, by the time I discovered this, I'd lost the custom syringe. Had a devil of a time without it. Think I finally achieved success after about 2 days of intermittently running a piece of baling wire in and out of the barrel while squirting teflon on it. However, it was stuck again the following week. Subsequent attempts to free it were nearly as difficult and results even more temporary. I believe I've even had it freeze up same-day after freeing it! Last time, I tried spraying it down liberally with brake cleaner (using the little straw that comes with the can) and then lubing it. No difference, still locks up within a day or two.
Matter-of-fact, both are home, now, think I'll go check status....
I doubt the key has been used in the door on the 03 since at least August, if not June/july or earlier: Works great
Don't recall when I last freed up the 05 but it was within the last two months, for sure....stuck again
