i don't think an ABS code self resets . you'l need a scanner to reset it .

Could be the plug or wireing . Also could be a faulty replacement sensor ?

Usual thing here is the battery. Make sure it's fully charged, also check the reluctor rings.

don't worry about how old the battery is , that means nothing ! you actually need to test it (CCA) COLD CRANKING AMPS , and volts .
even a new battery can fail .
the ABS reluctor ring is the toothed gear looking disk behind the wheel assembly/hub
in which the sensor aims at .
its common for them to get too dirty to read and also teeth can get chipped off them .
so check its clean and all the teeth are in tact .

Oh yes now i know what the reluctor rings are now.......yes all are in good order and clean, all will be checked again today with a drain and replacement of the break fluid, i will also ask for the battery to be checked, but the car is used every day , and it will have a good run on Saturday. All fuses are good too, the only other thing i can think of is it could be an electrical fault, one more thing ....could this also be a sign of pads needing replacement....?

Default Speed sensor

im having issues with my read speed sensor and ordered a new one to replace. Does anyone know how to disconnect the connector to the sensor, it has like a burgundy red clip over the connection and I don't want to break anything by pulling the wrong way. I appreciate your help

thanks

No the pads have nothing to do with it ,
But an incorrect tyre size or a low tyre pressure can result in this out come !
So check those to .

And also Is the code still specific to the same axal as before ?

Hi Andy,
Tyres are all good as i used a local tyre and break specialist when the problem first started,as i said i will be off to my garage in about and hour, i spoke to the guy who maintains all my cars and he said he will give it all and seeing to starting with the break fluid as it resembles think black coffee. The code was cleared with a scanner last week after replacing the sensor with another one, but once you hit the road it all comes back on again, so as to which axal could now be a mystery . But i will let you all know later how we got on.

Just a quick update,
It turned out to be a bad replacement sensor ......so having acquired another one, and a fluid change all is good, thanks for all the advice and help.

Two days ago the DSC warning light came up on the dash while I was out in town. That evening I read this thread and your comment.
So first thing yesterday I went and checked all of the tyre pressures.
Three of them were down by 2 or 3 psi except the rear driver side which was down to 26psi. I set them at 31 all round.
After inflating all 4 tyres the dash warning disappeared as soon as the engine started.

Thanks for that ! I appreciate it.

All four tires were low. The difference was only 3 psi from the highest to lowest. That's not enough of a pressure differential to set the ABS off. The warning might come back.

Just the DSC light Mikey, not the ABS.
I've had both DSC and ABS lights on last year when an abs sensor failed on the right hand front wheel.

I can't see how slightly low pressures could do that (or even much lower ones). Sadly I think you can expect whatever was wrong to reappear.

Or DSC. 3 psi difference will not set anything off.
