Default dual electronic climate control moisture purge activation

I'm trying to fix the gurgling sound that comes from the dash. It happens whether I use the a/c or not. It appears the sound has something to do with the climate control. I have read every thread about climate control problems and my best guess at this point is there's some blockage. I may try to do the Lysol spray procedure and see if that works.

But I just got the JLR Mongoose to program new keys/fobs, and while playing around in the IDS, I noticed under dealer options, there's an option called "dual electronic climate control moisture purge activation," and it says "disabled." I have looked everywhere on this site, downloaded/searched the IDS/SDD pdfs, and googled it but have found nothing about this option.

Does anyone here know what this option is and what happens if I change the option to "enabled?"

Are there any Jag techs or engineers on this site?

Yes there are. The most frequently-posting Jag tech here is "Brutal"....

The gurgling sounds that you are hearing are coming from the servo motors in your HVAC system. Search this site using "servo motor dashboard sounds" and sit back for plenty of reading that should help you considerably....

I have read the threads but the tsb is 2006 and newer. No tsb's for MY2004. I'll have to take your word that the noise is servo motor. I'm guessing that's the same as the blower motor in JTIS?

Anyhow, the noise doesn't bother me that much, especially if it's gonna be a pricey repair. I was more curious about what the option in IDS that I mentioned in my OP was. I'm not sure if it has some kind of testing purpose or only enabled if an optional module I may not have is installed?

When I search for servo motor in JTIS, blower motor comes up, so at least the JTIS doesnt recognize servo motor as the technical term. Could it be Air Door Actuator / Motor?

Yes, that is the correct name. And fortunately, these components are about $16 each. Amazing actually.

My 2003 S Type has this problem, but it is when the climate control is turned off. And, it doesn't happen all the time, just sometimes. The reason for the sound is the same as in the TB, the doors are seeking the home (origin) position.

I have already received the parts. I just need to set aside the time to replace the actuators. It looks like the dash might need to come out. Hope not.

Heima, looks like you and I are on the same repair schedule.

I don't see a TB for MY2004 for this issue. Does yours have one or are you referring to the 2006 TB? Maybe ours have the same issues as the later models but I just don't see the TSB.

Mine also happens when its off... sometimes when it's just sitting in the garage, turn the ignition on without even starting the car and the noise is there.

If you do repair it please document it. I have not seen anyone do it yet and would be very interested in how it's done. The parts at least are cheap!

My '05 STR has exactly the same symptoms as desertcat has noticed, so I would really be very interested in the write-up. Meanwhile, can anyone confirm that two actuator doors are needed and what the part number(s) are?

Yes of course, actuator motors.

So, what could have caused the problem in the first place? Or was it just bad design that makes them run off the rails trying to locate the home position?

Very good question! If they ever worked it's hard to see how they could need replacing, though they might need repositioning. Yet the TSB calls for replacement. Odd.

I am referring to the TB for 2006 and newer, maybe 2005 and newer.
The 4 part numbers are in the TB.
The workaround is to turn on the fan to the lowest setting. At least that stops it for me.

The 4 actuators are nearly identical, except for the fixture on the shaft. I think it is called a bellcrank.

With this crummy weather (no garage), and my metro needing attention, and the holidays, I am afraid that doing this service is a fairly low priority. I mean, just push the fan button and it goes away.

In the early new year, I expect to have some time, then I can try to take some photos of a replacement. But no guarantees.

Correct. Prices have changed.

Look at the dates. Those prices are from 2012.
