Electrical issues: lights stay on
First off, I'm new to the forum. Ive been a part of other forums before so I understand how they work. I do believe I'm posting this in the correct section. My apologies if I'm wrong.
The car is not mine, its a neighbor's who isn't very technologically savvy. I figured I'd help her out. It's a 2003 STR and it has an unusual issue. When the car is shut off completely..(engine, lights, everything..) The rear sidemarkers and license plates stay illuminated. They don't shut off until the car has been sitting for ~25 minutes. I assume its a automatic shut to keep the battery from draining if a light is left on by accident, thats how it is in my Maxima at least. She had it worked on at the dealership for over 8 hours and they still had no clue what the issue is. Anyone have this issue before or at least have any insight on where to look?
Thanks in advance!

You're in the right forum and well done for trying to help.
Yes, there's a battery saver feature.
It's an odd issue. Might the lights be non-standard (maybe LEDs)? Any other non-standard electrics (remote start or anything)?

No non standard electrics that im aware of. Im 100% sure they arent leds
Sounds like one of the relays 'sticking' (internal contactor welded), it cools down and eventually releases.
With the lights stuck on, and car shut off. go into the fuse panel, and using a screw driver handle, gently tap each relay. Sometimes, a bit of a tap will unstick the relay internally, and turn it off.
Not sure which relay will control those lights, so just tap each one, one by one. Probably going to be one of the ones in the fuse panel located in the trunk.

Good thinking! It will maybe be slightly warm to the touch. If you find a suspect, swap with another of same kind. JTIS is a free download and has Electrical Guide to assist in what does what.
