'06 s-type 4.2 normally aspirated. Had an oil leak at rear of engine, rear oil seal replaced which required removal of exhaust system, both sides.


I have a "putting" sound from under the hood, and the smell of exhaust in the passenger compartment since. The mechanic has had it back and worked on it, but the problem has returned. The mechanic says it is where the pipe(s?) meet the manifold, and difficult to get in proper alignment.


Any thoughts? I will take it back to the (indie) mechanic, and if anyone knows anything I should tell him, I would be grateful.
