Default Extended Warranty for 02 S-Type

I was just wondering whats a good extended warranty company and a good price for a 02 s-type. I have 86k right now. I called Ford and they want about 3600 for full coverage warranty and 3100 for a powertrain with engine and tranny covered. thanks...

An extended warranty on a ten-year-old S-Type will undoubtedly be pricey regardless of where you shop. If you're a DIY type of guy, you may be far better off putting that $3,000 in a money market account and using it as your maintenance fund when needed. That's what I've done and thus far I'm way ahead of the game....

For what period of time and mileage? Jon89 is right- put that money in the bank and use it as required.

Just got in contact with drivetrust. They offer a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty that covers nearly everything except for basic wear and tear items such as belts hoses, etc. $3,200 is what they are asking for, or $326.00 down and 163.00 a month. Deductible is 100.00. I called up FORD yesterday and they are asking $3,600 for the same coverage but for 3 years 36,000. What do you guys think?

I think Mikey and Jon89 hit it dead on! Stash the $$$ for a maintenance fund as needed...

Although in the UK, I took out a MBI Autoguard Warranty for £294 GBP with 126642 miles on the clock when I purchased the car 3 weeks ago, perhaps you have a franchise over the pond as with a lot of Insurance policies?
Its a Premium Cover and covers all parts except wear and tear and consumables. Just my 2p worth !

Ever better idea. Sell the 02, use the cash to put a down payment and get a 03+ S-Type and don't worry about an extended warranty.
