Default Exterior Rear Window Trim

On my 08 S Type, the chrome molding above the right door window is loose from at the top. I can see the plastic portion of three of the clips that appear to have released from the chrome strip. Questions: can the plastic be reattached to the trim and how does the entire trim piece detach from it's location

Default Thanks for the help

I bought the clips from my local Jag dealer ($1.05 each). The instructions and photos were awesome. I decided to remove the entire trim piece and replace all the clips. The entire process took me 20 minutes. This forum is awesome.
Thanks

Default part source for clips

hi. older post, but a couple questions on same issue (black plastic, however, just need to re-attach with new clips). I read the forum FAQ and clear enough; can easily get trim off.
first, is there an online source for the clips? a search using the supplied part number and/or any other description did not produce any.
second, the existing clips are old and brittle and break in pieces; any tips on pulling them out? tried with pliers and just get chips of plastic.
thanks.

Have you tried one of our forum sponsors? If they don't carry the clips, check into the Columbia, S.C. JLR Dealer, I am sure they will ship to Cali.

On removal of the clips, push the dowel piece into the door frame, the clips will then pop out much easier.

Thanks, Rick. the clips on mine appear to sit flush with the frame, but will give it a try.

The clips have a round dowel in the middle that locks them in place. It's not real obvious and several people have cut this off as they did not understand it's function.

Default Chrome Clips

I had to reinstall my trim as well. Finally purchased my clips from my local Jag dealer. 50 pieces for $22.37. Joycesjag is correct, just push the round dowel in the center of the clip, it will fall into the body cavity and the clip will come right out with a pair of needle nose pliers. Good luck

Thanks, all. good to know I'm not asking the totally obvious questions! indeed, pushing the dowel all the way in did the trick.
I did contact a list vendor, but ended up getting the clips from local dealer (part# 02XR826786020).
finishing the replacement today.
