Factory Stereo Rocks!
I've been doing some detailing on Laurie's Jag in preparation for British Car Day and the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix. Anyway, I decided to load some discs in the changer and play with the stereo. I'm pleased to report everything works perfectly.
So I'm messing around and discovered a control for the sub that I didn't know existed. I know, read the manual but what fun is that?
I got ZZ Top in there and I'm crankin it in the garage. I looked up and the rear view mirror is vibrating and the rear shelf looks like a giant speaker diaphram.
All this & no rattles, clipping or distortion.
I know some of you guys swap out sound systems. But this is by far the best car stereo I have ever heard. I sure won't be changing it one bit. Maybe I should save up for hearing aids instead.

That's got to beat the sound of the license plate vibrating while some macaroon with a boombox in the next car "shares" his taste in music.
I dunno' Jim, I had the pleasure of driving Joyces Jag today, (even though the talking gas gauge didn't ask me too)
.
Anywho..... Aldo Nova (Fantasy) came on, I cranked it and all I can say is I wish I were in my station wagon. I fiddled with all the the F/R, bass, treble, sub, etc..... by the time I was done the song had ended and I was mortified
.
I guess I should get with the times and get a MP3(?) player or something........Nahhhh its Joyces vehicle!

British Car Day is over for another year. Rather hot but we set up camp under some trees next to the BCD tent. It rained a bit in the morning but stayed dry the rest of the day.
So Laurie got first place in the Jag Sedan class. I'd guess about a dozen cars with one other S. It was a Black STR 6spd with 35,000miles. Popular choice show so that has to be taken into consideration. Nonetheless, She never stopped grinning while driving all the way home. I'm quite pleased as well seeing as it came from a salvage auction.
Since I had a designated driver, I got to drink beer with my Triumph & MG buddies all afternoon.
Took my little gas grill and cooked some brats & dogs. Today we get back in the same parking area for free to watch the races. Everyone is happy, life is good.

Kudos from me as well. You both should be proud of the fact that you paid pennies on the dollar for a salvaged car and brought it to pristine condition spending as little money as you did. The ultimate recycle job. Nice work, man....
Jon when I had the pleasure of meeting everyone in Pa. earlier this summer. We saw Laurie and Jim pulling in and Lauries smile was ear to ear, she was glowing with enthusiasm, 2 very proud owners! Jims bodywork is top notch, you would never know that the vehicle had been damaged!
Rick, I'm glad you had the opportunity to make that round trip to Pittsburgh in early June. With your collection of kiddies at home and all of Joyce's business travel, that was quite an accomplishment....
Thanks for the compliments. It's what I have done all my life. The key with this one was the find of such a cremepuff that got writen off.
The Vintage Grand Prix weekend is something I highly reccomend to any car nut. It's almost too much to describe. You have 400+ Brit cars for BCD on Saturday plus all the other shows. I saw more 356 Porsches than I knew they ever made. American classics, Hot Rods...you never know what you will see. Today there was a Lambo Convertible and two spaces down a 50s International Pickup Street Rod. Both were done in screaming yellow almost the same color. Someone commented they actually thought the pickup was kooler.
Then you got actual vintage racing going on the whole time. Not just cause I'm from here and bragging a bit but you get a chance it's worth the trip.
