Default Fenders have alligators

The front fenders of my 03 STR have the usual plastic liners. Both front liners are attached with , among others fasterners, an clip that has what look like allegator teeth that grips an tab on the inside of the lower bumper cover. These have mean looking teeth but they do not stay in place. I have removed, recontoured the teeth and reinstalled only to have them seperate again. Are there replacements available, is there an alternative method? Yes this is the car with the missing lower cover aka belly pan. try to find one of those!!

I'm not sure if I've understood but if they're the ones I think then they have a threaded hole for the bolt that sounds to be missing.

I will post some pictures of this clip the next time it seperates. A Torx (T28) fastens it to the fender liner and the alligator teeth grip a tab on the inside of the lower front bumber valence approx 3 inches infront of the wheel..but a picture will provide a better description.

Yep it's about 2/3 up the wheel on either side. Mine come loose all the time too. I think once their grip is compromised it pretty much is what it is. You could try to epoxy the clip in place and see if it holds.

In my instance I think the surface on the bumper cover that the clip grips onto is kind of mangled / worn, causing it to let go.

Take care,

George

Maybe if I remve the spring gripping clip ( teeth looking thing) from the plastic holder and glue the holder to the inner fender tab...Would epoxy be the best choice of adhesive?

Probably. Something like A JB weld or what have you is designed more for metal. What I think happens with these is that especially if the threads of the screw get road grime etc on them, they torque the spring clip and damage the softer plastic of the inner fender tab when someone goes to remove them. I had a problem with the drivers side since day one of ownership, but the passenger side was fine until me and my brother took the inner fender liner off to do the dccv. We put it all back together and a week later I noticed that the inner fender liner was loose at that spot again

It's one of those one day when I have enough time projects for me.

Take care,

George
