Fitting sat nav system to 1999 jaguar s type cd system any info please
Hello i have found a sat nav system for my car its a cd system with the small screen.
The set just comes with the screen and the boot unit.
I can see i will also need the boot fitting bracket but can anyone help me with the following questions.
1 Is the screen and boot cd unit all i need for the sat nav to be working and fitted.
2 can someone tell me where does the unit fit into the boot
3 how do i fit the screen do i remove the whole stereo climate part and is the leads just there to connect it to the stereo.
4 Iv seen a Website with a unit called an igo limousine and apparently it will plug into built in sat nav screens will this connect to mine
Any advice would be very helpful i am picking this unit up at £120 what i fought was a good deal
the full car details
Jaguar s type 3.0l auto
1999 v heated seats climate standard stereo
Thanks in advance

Hi. I have the standard factory fit system in my 1999 model and I also have most of the dash, boot and parcel shelf out having just retro-fitted the "Premium Sound" system. Waiting for the weather to improve before putting everything back!
The Sat Nav CD unit fits in the left hand side of the boot (as you look at it). The unit fits into a cradle which allows the unit to swing forward to help access to the CD map.
The Sat Nav aerial lives underneath the parcel shelf.
The Sat Nav screen replaces the large draw next to the radio. You need to take the complete central console out (radio/climate control etc) to remove the draw and then fit the screen.
If you are lucky you will find all the additional wiring in situ (usually taped up to an adjacent wiring loom). This was the case when I fitted the Premium Sound system. If you are not lucky you will need a wiring loom.
Have a look for the following.
In the boot - left hand side:
1 X white 10 pin connector
1 X white 18 pin connector
1 X grey 1 pin connector (this could be a fibre-optic cable)
Behind the dash centre console:
1 X white 20 pin connector
Note that you cannot get the newer CD maps (mine is about 2002). Jaguar does not support updates and changed the sysystem on the face-lifts.
Makes for some interesting journeys when you go along news roads whilst the screen shows that you are in a field!
Hope all this helps.
