Default Front grill for S-type 2000-model

Hei there!

I'm close to buying a S-type, 2000-model, V8 4.0(my first Jaguar). However, the grill is the old look and I want this one: http://www.adamesh.co.uk/ekmps/shops...dels--48-p.jpg
That's the facelift from 2003? Or was it 2004?

I've searched around eBay, and found some, but. Is eBay safe for this kind of replacement? Is it any good/quality? Where do you recommend me buying the grill?

Check Craigslist (or local equivalent) for part-outs. At least you'll be able to see the grille before you buy it. Same goes for any other used parts lot. On EBay, they sometimes show the whole car that the part came off of, so these are not reproduction.

Thank you for the reply! What price is normal for this grill? Have found some cheap one, but that might be the net inside the grill only. Not always sure what is the net only and what is the whole grill.

I really really would not buy a 4.0 for a long list of reasons all covered on here many times. Go for 2003+ car.

So no 4.0, whatever year? Or is 4.0 2003+ fine?

Is there any differences between 3.0 and 4.0 besides the obvious?

I also want a 3.0 2003, but it has 173k km(107500 miles). Event services have been followed. Is this car recommended?

The 4.0 was discontinued after 2002. For 2003, the V8 engine was a 4.2L. Same basic design, but aside from a modest bump in displacement, it had improved timing chain tensioners and steel cylinder liners, which makes it a more durable engine. Jaguar also replaced the Ford 5 speed auto gearbox with a ZF 6 speed which is much more reliable.

I have a 2001 4.0, and if I had it to do over again, I would have passed on this car and gone hunting a newer car.

www.minagallery.com sells grilles in stainless and other accessories. I have a 2000 and this is where I got the new grill.

I see. There's no 4.2 on the market in Norway. So I guess I have to wait, unless I go for 2003 V6 instead.

Thanks for you answer!

It seems that the V-6 cars are better regardless of the year.
