Fuel Gauge with a Mind of Its Own
Hi all,
Just fill up with my first tank of fuel. Managed to drip in about 65 litres of 98RON and must say I got about 500klms on the first tank load.
After filling up, I watched the fuel gauge go all the way to full and also observed the distance to empty go up to 545klms to empty.
After driving roughly 400 meters up the road, the fuel gauge shot down to below half empty and the distance to empty starting reading 235klms??
I tried restarting at the traffic lights to see if this would reset the gauge but no luck. It was only when I reached home and put my car in reverse that the gauge reset correct??? Maybe just coincidental timing?
I wonder if there are some suggestion about this.
Thanks in anticipation.
Doug

Unless they've changed the fuel spec for Oz, you may as well avoid 98RON. You've likely the same spec as here: 95RON.
There are quite a few threads about faulty fuel senders (the gauges just report what they're told) if you want to Search and read.
