Default Son Of Dave - New Member

Hi there,

Son of Dave here, not some guy with a jesus complex, but it's the first name that came to mind.

The standard info - 34 year old bloke from sunny lancashire, with a bit of a "project" on his hands, that could do with a bit of technical and moral support.

In May of this year my father passed away aged 66 due to cancer, sad i know but its a painful part of life. Anyhow don't want all this to be doom and gloom. His name was Dave, and was an eccentric, oddbal character.

His pride and joy was his 1995 (poss94 dont have docs right now) xj6, sovereign edition . He LOVED that car. Prior to the cancer which really was a small part of his life, he suffered from a number of other illnesses that stopped him from working.

Part of the story of this jag, was that it overcame an enourmous challenge in my dads life in the name of his ex wife (2nd) .During a dispute, she jumped in her car and rammed it twice into a static caravan, rendering the two vehicles written off and a damaged caravan.

Subsequently he brought it from the insurance and fully repaired the bodywork and panels. He was an oldschool coachbuilder back in his time. He did a pretty stella job of repairing it considering the damage done.

During the last ten years, hed fettle with it, play with it, fix it, continue to repair it. It was roadworthy but never happy with it. We joked that he was scared of finishing it, cos he'd have nothing to do.

Now its in my possession, and looking a bit tired. Got some kind of fuel issue, and possible stagnant fuel in the system.

It's never going to be worth much, or a show stopper, but thats part of its character. Me and my brothers have decided to keep it for a year or two as a bit of a legacy, and intend to make some road trips as a bonding exercise.

So here i am , and i need to pull my finger out and make a start with this. Problem is im gonna need some hand holding and im probably going to ask some noob type questions.

Cheers

Rob

Welcome.

As Graham said, once we know what it really is, help will be simple, and fast flowing.

I suggest you take up drinking to go with the hand holding.

Welcome Rob. Good Luck. Just ask. You'll probably get something in short order.

Don't have time to write a full reply but i will do so tomorrow.

Thanks again.
