Default Fuel injector removal from rail

2003 S Type 3.0
Do I leave the clip on and just pry the injector off the rail?
Can I install all 6 injectors on the rail and then push them into the lower manifolds, or do I need to remove the manifolds as well?

Please let me know before I run amok.

Here is a link to the Workshop Manual for the facelift X200:

What is the reason for removing the fuel injectors?

P0304 code indicating misfire cylinder 4. When I changed plugs and coils, plug number 4 was wet with fuel, which was why it went to restricted performance, and smelled awful like unburned fuel when it would run. Terrible idle, and shudders when it revs up.

I have the manifold off and new injectors in hand, so I'd like to change them all, or even just number 4 because the others seem fine, but I don't quite get how to do it.
There's threads on the X type 3.0, but that has the engine mounted sideways, so it's not the same.

yes, leave the clips on the injectors
if you remove the chrome pipe screws the black inlets will be freed.
Then the injectors can be unplugged from the black inlets, and uncliped from the rail.

Check out some pics:

Job done.
Damn, that was pretty hard, but you guys made it easy with all the helpful threads and pics.
I really appreciate it, since the mechanic down on the corner quoted me $1600 to do the job.
So far it cost $125 for re-manufactured Bosch injectors and some gaskets, everything went fairly smooth but I'm knackered and will have to tackle the intake manifold install another day.

Thanks for everything Darius, and I really dig those gold valve covers, they're just glowing with speed and luxury, totally badass.

One question though, the intake manifold only has 5 bushings right, 2 big and 3 small, and there's not one needed for the rear mount where the cover for the pressure regulator goes, right?

I sure hope so, they kinda fell out and I'm not sure if I lost one or not.
I've been looking everywhere for it, though.

Glad you did it!

I swapped my engine and the new one i made sure to refurbish it and make it look nice.
thanks for the compliments B)

i dont remember how many screws the manifold has, but all the top ones have those black bushings the size of some bottle caps.
