2003 Jag. S type v8 4.2 not an R
Car would not start. Battery was recharged.
Trouble with fuel pump and control modulator.
Mechanic first said the fuel pump was o.k. and the alarm system was o.k.
He then went around the modulator and tried to jump start the fuel pump.
Still would not start.
Ordered and had installed new fuel pump and control modulator.
Had to take to dealership service dept. to get calibrated. (Tow truck)
Ask if after new parts were installed if that should cure the problem.
Answer: might be other problems and the transmission might not work.
What has this to do with the transmission? Sounds like they screwed up something.
When picked up at mechanic's shop, to be towed to Portland Jag dealership 50 miles, the transmission was locked in PARK and the parking brake was locked. When the unloaded it at the dealership the car rolled off the carrier.
The dealership mechanic does not know what is wrong with the car and will run a diagnostic tomorrow and we will be in contact with him. He also asked if we knew if someone had taken the shift lever knob off. Don't know.
